This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, 2010. This day begins a 40-day period of meditation, fasting, and repentance in preparation for the glory of resurrection at Easter. Some denominations celebrate Lent more formally than others, but no matter what your denomination, or even if you don't have one, it's a good idea to spend as much time as you can in the period before Easter meditating on the sacrifice of Christ, God's great love for us, and the incredible promises of the resurrection. Some people find this a somber time, and it is, but underneath it all is the most wonderful, exciting, miraculous thing which ever happened. Spend this time in God's love. Can anyone truly look at and understand the figure of Christ, broken and humiliated and in pain, and doubt God's great love for us?
