Finding My Happy PlaceI love coffee houses. Always have. Always will. It doesn't matter if I am writing web content, a short story or poetry fro my upcoming book (shameless self plug) which I will be self publishing later this year the coffee house (The Brew Ha-Ha in Baton Rouge, LA in this case - I hate big chain anything) is the place where I can relax and focus. I love the sound of light music playing over the speakers and quiet conversations from the other patrons. Hell, I have even gotten many a poetry and story idea from said peoples' conversations. I have never been able to sit in a quiet room and work. Even in school study hall was my nemesis (sorry Thad, looking back you have been out-nemesised). As other students sat hunched over their books writing diligently about history and science or doing math equations my mind would race (what the Zen folk like to call the Monkey Mind). The coffee house provides the perfect amount of quiet while giving me enough distraction and inspiration to write whatever needs to be written at the moment (in this case - a blog post and tip about finding my happy place. So, I guess the question is - "What is your happy place?". Most cars don't perform their best until they hit that perfect spot and it's different for each one. What's yours? Where is the place you can go that allows you to perform your best? |
