Any Questions?

I just added the 'Answer User Questions About Exercise', so please feel free to tell me what you think! I would love feedback on whether or not the weekly workout tip is helping, if the new tips are any good, if you want more, less, if you're happy or sad. Give me some feedback; this exercise tip site is for you guys, so either give me praise or tell me how it can be better.

Look forward to your comments :)

Love your site. Offers a lot of good advice and isn't bogged down with too much detail and BS. Keep up the good work!

Any advice for a former track sprinter and swimmer? I am 38yrs old and in the last 2yrs I have dropped my weight from 250 to 215 thru nutrition, weight lifting and biking. In the warmer months I bike 3 or 4 days a week for 12-20mi at a time averaging 15mph. When I lift I usually do 20-30min cardio first then 30-45min weights focusing on one body group at a time (chest, legs, etc.). I would like to compete in some sprint triathlons next year. They are all a little different, but most are 400yd swim, 20k(12.1mi) bike, and 5K(3.1mi) run. When I work out at the gym I use the stationary bike first for 20min then go to the treadmill for about 10min. Once the weather turns I plan on increasing those times. Any advice on training for these competitions?

Newbie Triathlon - you need to differ your warm-ups. Right now your body is getting so used to the treadmill and 'inside' bike that you are not giving your body enough of a challenge. I'm sure you push it, but you need to keep your body guessing. Your muscles work much like your brain (because that's where their signals to contract/expand come from). If you don't exercise your brain, you very literally are not able to function as well as you used to. That's why we 'workout' our brains through books and conversations and learning new things. Our muscles need the same kind of treatment, so differ your workouts.
Change your warm-up every week to something different, and when you exercise don't do the body building workout. Instead try and focus on total body exercise, for that will lean you out and help stress more of your Type 2b (explosive) muscles fibers, actually making you faster and quicker when it comes to speed activities. Hope that helps, and good luck stud.
