Nice Authors Finish First!

Being congenial is a welcomed attribute no matter who you are. Being an author, myself, and having dealt with hundreds of authors, I am certain when I say that people are attracted and more receptive to friendly people.   I work with authors, daily and the ones who demonstrate they are cooperative, willing to do whatever they can to support their book and generally pleasant are the authors who get my full support. Does it mean that I still have to do all that I can as deemed by our contractual obligations? You bet, but the difference is that I may go the extra mile or out on a limb for authors who are grateful, kind and agreeable to work with.   I recognize there are all types of people in this world, as well as authors, and for those authors who are sincerely trying to support the sale of their book through every means they know and are open to trying new and different ways of promoting their book; they are the ones who will benefit the most.   As the old saying goes, you get more with honey than you do with vinegar. It’s also been proven that smiling uses less facial muscles than frowning.   So authors, put a smile on your face, a bounce in your walk and hold your book up high-it will make an immense difference in book sales. And it is all good business practice.   If you want to learn more about the business of writing and how to create a winning experience with your publisher, check out:  www.theartandbusinessofwriting.com and sign up for The Art and Business of Writing conference taking place November 2009.
