It's fall marathon season, and there is plenty of advice out there are about marathon day preparation.
Check out my Marathon Day Tips section for still more advice about marathon day. But I came across this reminder this week on Active.com: Be sure to trim your toenails the night before the marathon.
That may not sound like much, but remember that 26.2 miles is a long way, and little things can beome big annoyances. An uneven toenail can catch on your sock and get torn off, and a long toenail that hits the front of your shoe is more likely to become bruised, and give you the infamous "black toenail" common to so many runners.
So, take a moment between pinning your number to your shirt and assembling your power gels to trim those toenails. Your feet will thank you!
