Celebrity Guru
Ayla Brown is on the fast track to stardom. Under the encouragement of her parents – Senator Scott Brown (R-Mass.) and WCVB-TV Channel 5 News Reporter Gail Huff – Brown braved the stage during “American Idol: Season 5.” Today, her focus is the Boston College Basketball team. After enduring advice from Simon Cowell, the tell-it-like-it-is “American Idol” judge we all love to hate, and her various basketball coaches, Wrentham-bred Brown offers a few of her own tips and tricks.

3 Tips from Ayla Brown
On Basketball
She started playing basketball in the third grade and the hard work paid off – Brown is headed for Boston College this fall on a basketball scholarship. Her secret: "Get as many lay-ups as you can, and always drive to the basket," said Brown.
On Success
Competing against millions of hopeful stars is second nature to Brown. She currently holds dozens of basketball awards ranging from “All American” to “Most Valuable Player.” Brown says the one thing she is most proud of is being a 2000 point scorer. Her lucky charm? “I wear a special star necklace my mom gave me for my 16th birthday,” said 17-year-old Brown.
Life Tips
At the heart of all the idol madness, Brown is braving the back-to-school craze with other incoming freshman and offers this tip to other college-bound kids: “Be yourself, stay safe, make the right decisions and remember that everything comes around full circle,” said Brown. “My goal is to be a role model, to live a healthy and happy life, to continue to have a successful career in basketball.”
