Cory got into journalism in a kind of roundabout way. After graduating from The George Washington University with a bachelor's degree in history, he found work in the real estate industry, first as a property manager in Washington, DC, then as a land acquisition specialist on Maryland's eastern shore. While he enjoyed real estate, and was quite successful, he felt something was missing in his life.
Capitalizing on an interest in journalism he'd fostered since high school, Cory moved away from Maryland to Boston, his favorite city as a boy growing up in New Hampsire, to study journalism at Emerson College. He showed a natural flair, and landed a general assignment reporter position at The Patriot Ledger, a medium-sized daily newspaper serving the affluent South Shore communities of Massachusetts.
Cory learned a lot at the Ledger, and in March of 2007, decided to try bigger things and head into the Worcester market. Drawing on his background in real estate development, Cory now covers Brownfields redevelopment projects, corporate expansion, and the burgeoning biotechnology industry for the Worcester Business Journal, the area's premier business-to-business newspaper. He is the senior staff writer for the online and print publication.

Philosophy
At the risk of sounding crass, I truly believe in the saying, "Don't assume- it makes an ass out of u and me."
I definitely agree that there is no such thing as a stupid question. As a reporter with little business or biotech background covering a thriving business and biotech scene, I ask a million questions a day. The way I look at it is, if I seem stupid asking what might be an obvious question to an official or spokesman, I'll look even dumber in print when I write the wrong information, or dont have the necessary context.
It never, ever, hurts to ask.
