5 Tips from Lakeysha Green

Keep Your Make Up Fresh Throughout the Day

When I think of refreshing make up an old fashioned mantra automatically runs through my mind: "Bite your lips, pinch your cheeks, and re-powder."

Fortunately, looking fresh throughout the day has evolved to become less painful to achieve, making way for a more beautiful and cheerful you.

Combat mid-day shine: Too much powder can create a mask-like appearance thats dreadfully aging. Instead of re-powdering, use a blotting sheet. Blotting sheets absorb the excees oil on the surface of skin, for a matte finish without the fuss of re-applying make-up.

Under eye smudges: Throughout the day our eye shadow makes a slow, troublesome journey from our lids and lashes to the delicate area of skin beneath our eyes. Instead of pulling out your make up remover and re-applying, gently brush away fallen make up with a cotton bud.

Brighten Skin: Fresh radiant skin at 5pm may sound like a dream, but don't dismay. A small spirtz makes it all possible. Mineral mists replenish thirtsty skin, and invigorates a tired face.

Lips: Keep your lips luxe with a tinted moisturizer. It rejuvenates faded lip color and adds a hint of shine to nude lips.

So, there you have it, Four easy steps to stay fresh throughout the day. Leave the cheek pinching to grandma.

Spring Beauty Lip Trends

Winter gives way to spring and the colors of the season vividly emerge. Spring means life and life is celebrated by laughter, so what better way to ring in spring than with gorgeous lips?

The classic red lip is always en vogue, but this season deep scarlets give way to rich pinks dressed up with a splash of gloss for an eternally youthful shine.

Read on to discover which shades of pink best flatters your skintone.

Fair & Ivory Skin Tones. Soft Rose and Iced Pinks.

Medium Skin Tones. Medium shades of Pink. Classic Rose.

Olive Skin Tones. Mauve, Rich Rose.

Brown/Dark Skin Tones. Intense Orchid, Pink Fuschia.

What Do I Wear Under This?

Tees, lightweight knits, body hugging tops: Smooth seamless bras, also refered to as the 't-shirt bra' look best under these styles. Lacy bras, bow details, and ruffles will create an uneven surface across your bust.

Spaghetti straps, no straps: Bra straps look tacky with thin straps & strapless styles. A good strapless bra in nude or black is a lingerie essential. This bra allows you to wear sexy styles without sacrificing support.

Deep V necklines: To pull of these styles, you will want to select a bra where the cups are joined by a thinner band near the bottom of the bra. On styles like demis and balconettes, the band is positioned too high and will be visible.

Low-back, and backless styles: Stick on cups and adhesive bras work best for these styles. Stick on cups tend to be less visible. Adhesive bras provide more coverage and generally stop where the back begins.

T-backs and tanks: Racer-back bras look best under these sporty styles. The shape of the bra mimicks that of the style being worn.

Halter tops, assymetric styles: Convertible bras tend to be the best solution for these styles. Straps can be easily be adjusted for halter necks and one-shoulder styles.

Skirt Styles For Everyshape

Spring is here and as the weather warms, its time to exchange cozy boots and heavy knits for cool airy sandals and chic lightweight skirts. Our bodies come in a variety of beautiful shapes and sizes, with unique features we love to show off, or in some cases cleverly disguise. So whether you are tall, petite, curvy, or thin, here are our top picks of skirt styles to flatter your silhouette during the spring/summer season.

Curvy

Show off the natural curves of your body in fabrics with good drape in flare cuts, circle skirts and asymmetrical skirts. Styles such as straight skirts and A-lines help to minimize the appearance of full hips and bottom. Pencil skirts are flattering, but avoid versions of this style with hemlines that are very tapered, (narrow at the hem), as this will visually widen your hips.

To avoid exaggerating the width of your hips, ensure your skirts have enough ease throughout the hip and thigh so the skirt does not cling, or gather. Also, check for proper construction, such as darts and seaming for the best shape and fit.

Thin

If you desire skirts that give more shape, look no further. A pencil skirt with a body skimming fit that narrows at the knee will give the appearance of a curvier silhouette. Popular styles such as godets, flare, and pleated skirts will also provide more shape to your silhouette.

For a shapelier bottom, look for skirts that skim along the hips and thigh and then flare out for an appealing silhouette. Remember to select cuts and fabrics that add volume and drape well, avoiding skirts that hang shapelessly from the body.

Tall & Petite

Balancing your vertical height with your body shape is all about the hemlines. The best skirt lengths for petites range from mini to mid calf worn with heels. Shorter hemlines visually elongate your legs, giving your body a more balanced appearance.

The best hemlines for tall women are above the knee, just below the knee, or full length. Fitted skirts worn just below the knee shows off long legs, while providing visual balance to the body. Play up long legs this season with a tiered skirt and heels for chic volume, or wear hemlines that stop just above the knee paired with your favourite flats.

The season’s styles range from voluminous balloon skirts to daring minis, providing a vast array of colors, textures, and designs to select and wear. When shopping for your favourite styles, remember to pay close attention to cut and fabric drape to ensure the best fit and look for your body type.

Winter 2008 Hair Trends

Update your look this January with a well trimmed mane. Whether your hair is short, long, or somewhere in-between, here are out trend favs of the season.

Short. Cropped layers with razored ends give texture and definition to shorter length hair. This sexy cut looks great on all facial shapes and is best complimented with a well groomed brow.

Medium. Thanks to Victoria Beckham, the bob is the hottest hair trend of the season. This style is cut short in the back and lengthens to frame the face in the front. This look can be tailored by your hair stylist to suit the shape of your face.

Long. Long layered hair is always a classic choice, put paired with a blunt fringe or side-swept bangs will give you the lengthy look of the season. The result? We like to call it drop dead gorgeous.
